Birth control. Some people consider this controversial, or whatever, and I don’t intend on persuading you all on going one way or another, but I have recently become (personally) enlightened. I started taking what is supposedly the lowest dosage of a prescribed oral contraceptive about 18 months…
Hmmm…maybe this is why I’ve been moody so much. I’m not sure but I know I’m not going off the pill because I’m no where near ready to raise a child. Does anyone know of anything to make the moods better?

Same thing happened to me. I was on it for 3 months and I felt exactly as you did. I would maybe look into the copper IUD. It’s the only thing I’ve researched that doesn’t use hormones and is effective. bedsider.or has more info on it.

I hate synthetic birth control! Sometimes people can’t see how bad it is, until they go off of it. But I did a lot of research and found a natural alternative. I’m glad you are feeling better, it’s awful dealing with messed up hormones!

so interesting you wrote about this because i went off of the pill 6 months ago (was on for 5 yrs) and i’ve had unbelievable complications with my body since going off (depression, acne, no period). i’m actually thinking of going back on.

You just confirmed a suspicion I’ve had about myself and the pill for a while now, thank you for sharing.

if you don’t mind me asking, what do you plan to do now? I’ve thought about going off the pill for the same reason: I’ve become crankier, irritable at the littlest things, & generally disinterested in my boyfriend, but I don’t like the other options.
